You made a miracle happen! – fundraiser update

I want to share some exciting news about the fundraiser.
First, background info:
In mid-September I announced the 2022 fundraiser. The goal is to raise €30 000.
(I’m using EUR and USD interchangeably for the sake of simplicity because we have followers in the US and Europe. The numbers are about the same.)
I need that to cover expenses connected with the work on this channel, the Weekly Roundup show, and other work with community organizing:
We need to cover equipment, recurring expenses, administrative costs for keeping the channel going, my own expenses, paying colleagues for work they do behind the scenes, and a budget for organizing events, etc…
Without funding, the work grinds to a halt, and it’s no longer possible to keep going.
As a partway goal, I told you that when we reach €20 000 I start planning the next social event with high-profile speakers.
And here’s the good news…
So far we have received 259 separate donations, bringing us to a total of €21 631.
That means we’re more than 2/3 of the way to our total goal. We still need €8369 to reach €30 000.
It also means that I’ll organize the conference you’ve been waiting for – at last!
I must admit I was a bit concerned in early December. We weren’t even half-way to the “conference goal”. Not a third of the way to the total goal.
Then we got a boost the last couple of weeks, and now we’re in a good place to start 2023!
Here’s how the donations came in…
We’ve had an even distribution between large, medium, and small donations.
(Not that I consider any donation “small”, but I want to make a point.)
The largest single donation so far is €5000, which is very generous.
Ca. 50% of the total amount came in through large donations (more than €1000).
Roughly 25% of the total amount came in through medium donations (€100 – €1000).
And ca 25% of the total came in through smaller donations (€1 – €100).
Why am I telling you this? Because it’s important that you understand that all support is needed and appreciated.
We wouldn’t have made it without the large donations. Or the medium. Or the smaller amounts.
They all added up to get us where we are today.
So here is our next goal:
The fundraiser isn’t over – we can’t relax quite yet. We still need another €8369 to reach €30 000. That’s our current goal. And…

The next conference is coming up.
Like I said, when we get over €20 000 I start planning the next event.
I’ve already started planning and organizing.
We’ll have an event somewhere in Europe this spring.
This will be an exclusive conference, invitation only, with high-profile speakers. And I promise you it will be good.
I’m passionate about these events. Like I always say:
We’re not rational calculating machines — we’re social creatures… Cold information isn’t enough. We need human contact.
It’s now three years since I organized the last event.
COVID stopped all of that, because travel and planning became impossible.
But now it’s about time to get started again…
Your faith in my work inspires me to keep going. So thank you all for your generous support!
